Our Camper Trailer

In 2011 we went on a trip to Fraser Island. At the time we had a large coleman tent and all the associated bits and bobs that you take camping. The car was bursting at the seams with all our gear needed for 10 days on the island, plus a fully loaded roof basket. It was on this trip that we really started to take notice of camper trailers and appreciated how much easier they would make our camping.
We searched for several months, looking at quite a few different makes, and finally settled on a Big Red from Aussie Jays Campers in Williamstown.

The camper is a side fold soft floor design, with a 12' tent and annexe section. The annexe can be fully enclosed with walls to keep the elements out, and also has midge proof walls. It has a queen sized bed with ample room for the girl's stretchers on the floor. The Drifta kitchen is fantastic and hooks up to the 80 litre water tank. 2 jerry can holders and a gas bottle holder complete the setup.

We've added a few things over time: led strip lighting, a 12v system with 100aH battery and monitor, 600w inverter and various merit and cig sockets to make life easier. We also changed over the poly block coupling with an Ozhitch, which is fantastic and so easy to hook up.

The trailer has done several thousand km's in the last few years, and has proven to be very comfortable, from keeping us warm and dry in Tassie, to being quite cool and providing shade in nearly 40 degree heat in the Grampians!

We love our Aussie Jays and have taken it to many places, with many more on the bucket list yet to see!
